EXPERIENCE, LEARN AND STAY ACTIVE THIS SUMMER

Summer is conducive to carefree days on the beach, long evenings spent outdoors, and respite from everyday duties. However, many hours spent on a sun lounger can be diversified with pleasant activities that are designed to enrich your summer vacation and teach you something new. So you will be ready to enter the fall season (work season) feeling inspired as well as relaxed.

Summer experience - valuable experience

It's not about making a to-do list or trying to optimize your productivity in your free time, but rather using the extra free time to try something new

- to read a book you haven't read all year

- to learn mindfulness.

It's about practicing the kind of summer experience that will bring you joy, and fun, and help you get back in touch with your inner self.

Vacations are meant to help us take a break from our professional personalities, and daily routines, and try new things with an open mind and curiosity.

This summer experience is a source of entertainment as well as a remarkable opportunity to learn something new about yourself and then bring those lessons into our daily lives.

Make room for this kind of summer experience in your life.

Take some time before your vacation to brainstorm. In your notebook (btw it's always good to have one with you, especially for dreams and to-do lists) - write down everything you would like to try this summer.

Without thinking much about it, jot down everything that comes to mind, whether it's bungee jumping, a boat trip, a walk in the woods, or a single podcast episode you want to listen to and learn from.

Once you've got it all down, do your research and see which of these summer experiments are feasible this summer. Sometimes it can be as simple as going to your hometown bookstore, other times it will involve finding a good water ski instructor and booking a class.

The possibilities are endless, but no matter what you choose, taking the time to consciously choose your leisure activities will make you more excited about your leisure time.

Here are some ideas that might inspire you in some way this summer.

Podcasts

The podcast app on our phones is packed with tons of information, from educational information on every industry to fun conversations between friends and life-changing interviews with the world's top thinkers, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

There is no better time to familiarize yourself with these materials than during summer downtime. You can listen to podcasts while flying to a sunny destination while waiting at the airport (a guaranteed way to reduce the annoyance of delays) and during summer evening walks.

The only effort required is to browse the applications and find the programs that interest you the most. Regardless of whether you are interested in food, fashion, or self-development, you have a huge range of choices in every field.

Summer Books

Summer and free time are great opportunities to disconnect from technology for a while and pay more attention to the present moment. Reading a good book can be a fast track to mindfulness as it immerses you in another world and helps to quiet the noise in your head. At the same time, it educates, inspires, and opens our minds.

Here is a list of some books that have a significant impact on our self-development:

All About Love: New Visions by Bell Hooks Love is much more than Valentine's Day once a year, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, or breakfast in bed on a Sunday morning. We know that, right? But really? All About Love: New Visions challenges our view of love. Most importantly, it shifts our linguistic perspective from seeing love as a noun to seeing it as a verb. When we first fall in love, it's ridiculously easy. It just happens. But after a while, to continue to feel love, we must love it. Engagement is re-engagement.

This can be difficult in a world that defines very clearly what beauty should look like. Renee Engeln, professor of psychology, author of the book “Obsession of Beauty. How the modern obsession with looks is hurting girls and women. I strongly encourage you to read this book.

Keeping a diary

Nothing will make you feel more focused than getting out of your head and putting your thoughts and emotions on paper.

This type of journaling is an essential tool in everyday life, but in the summer, when life slows down a bit, you can devote a little more time to it. You have more time to describe your current life situation, your dreams, worries, and anything that comes to your mind.

Waking up early on a summer day, and enjoying the peace that surrounds you is extremely therapeutic, plus free writing is all you need to breathe. All you need is a notebook, a few questions to think about, and perhaps a cup of coffee to wake you up.

If keeping long journals isn't for you, you can use a 5-minute journal. The slower pace of summer days means that every day you can spend a few extra minutes thinking about what you want, what makes you happy, what you expect, and how happy you are.

Stay active

Usually in the summer we discover new aspects of our personality, wear brighter, carefree clothes, and take off the camouflage that is makeup. We are more relaxed and fun.

We open ourselves to new opportunities and we say YES to new challenges much more often.

This is the time when we are overwhelmed by children's joy and carefree. We are looking for new adventures, summer experience, and activities.

During this time, you should focus on being active and spending as much time on the move as possible.

This can take the form of hiking, wakeboarding adventures, or building sandcastles with the youngest members of the family.

Jump into the water, run at sunset, fly kites, and enjoy life. And in all this, follow one extremely simple rule - the most important thing is having fun and discovering the inner child spirit.

Practice mindfulness

When you slow down and take a break from work commitments in the summer, you will naturally feel closer to your inner, natural, and true self.

You will be better able to listen to that wise inner voice that is usually drowned out by your busy and fast-paced lifestyle. Mindfulness, including meditation, will help you to enhance this calmer, conscious state.

If your main goal during the holidays is to spend time with family and friends, this does not stop you from finding 10 minutes a day for a short meditation. You can do it before breakfast or as part of your evening ritual. This will give you a sense of grounding for yourself.

For practicing meditation, I recommend using the Insight Timer app, which will help you keep up with your daily practice by doing a series of meditations of varying lengths from 3 minutes to over an hour.

You can write what you are striving for (whether it is relaxation or gratitude practice). You can join the community and practice group meditations.

Even if you're not traveling to any exotic destination this summer, being able to enjoy the sun and ice cream in the park can still put you in a summer mood. Make the most of these slower, sunny days by taking time for yourself and enjoying new summer experience - the only rule is to keep an open mind and pick up inspiration along the way.
